Understanding Home Safes

0

Though it’s less common to store documents in a safe now that computers have taken over the job, however not all documents are stored digitally and there are many that have been hand signed or it might be that you have photos that you want to keep protected. It’s not just paper documents that you can store in your safe, there are other items such as antiques, paintings, jewellery and autographs that need to be protected.  Home security is very important and shouldn’t be ignored.

There are many types of safe that be be purchased for the home and wall safes are perhaps the most exciting simply because we see them featured in spy movies, but they provide an extra level of security. They can be masked behind paintings, tucked in a stairwell or hidden in other unlikely but easily accessible locations. Alternatively they can even take one of these safes and have it installed in the floor instead.  All you have to do is rotate the safe by 90 degrees.

There are many other safes beside the wall safe such as ones that can be placed in a desk drawer and then there are whole rooms that can become a safe. You may believe that room safes are only for banks.

There are many different materials that can be used for safes but it doesn’t all come down to strength; stealth is just as important. So-called ‘can safes’ look like ordinary household products, such as deodorant cans or coffee pots. They aren’t as good as other safes in that they can easily be broken into, however due to their dullness, thieves are unlikely to check them out.

Electronic or computer-integrated models are all the rage now, since they can be programmed. Just as banks do, you can program them to only allow access at certain times of the day.

That’s not all, there are even more security measures that can be included in this type of safe too. A finger print sensor can be used so that it’s very difficult for anyone to gain access. If you are forgetfully of passwords then this might just be up your street.

You may need only a small plastic bin with a simple key lock. Or you may need the full protection of a full-sized, fire-safe floor model. But whatever your security needs, there’s a safe that’s right for you.
